November 16th

Hi!

We have been working very hard on our final presentation and report so I didn’t have a lot of time to update my blog, but here we go!

Since last post a lot of things happened:

-We went to giraffe center and elephants orphanage in Nairobi. It was a wonderful experience because we feed the giraffes and they kissed us! haha. We also saw the orphaned baby elephants during their activities, it is very important that people don’t buy ivory since it is the leading cause of death for elephant moms.

-We walked around our beautiful town Machakos; we met new people and they were so friendly and smiley. Kids were awesome, we played with them and they were so happy. The landscape was beautiful and the weather just perfect. We will miss this town.

-We had our mid term presentation with the customer and they were satisfied with the progress. We received valuable feedback so we worked on the improvements.

-We visited the school of the deaf and it was an amazing experience. Children taught us their signal language, they prepared an especial dance for us and they played a lot. We also worked hard in order to deliver something to the community so we plant some trees, we cut the grass, we cleaned the kitchen and dining area.

-What an amazing adventure we spent on last weekend! We hiked Ngong hills, walked with a giraffe herd, we visited Oloorkesalie prehistoric excavations, hot springs, Shompole community conservation area and Lake Magadi.

-This week we had our final presentation and currently we are working on our final report. A lot of work to do!

Summarizing everything =)

I will summarize the activities that we already complete in our assignation to Kenya.

-When we arrived to the Kenyatta airport Alex and his staff was already waiting for us and then we moved to our hotel that was very nice. We arrived very late so we tried to sleep as much as possible.

-Our first day in Nairobi was wonderful, we just walked around the downtown and we joined to a church party in the KICC building. We also climbed the building until the heliport.

-We had our first dinner with the team. We introduced ourselves in a different language than English; we listened a lot different languages in just one team and it was very interesting. We are a multicultural team and we are already so adapted.

-The customers’ meeting started. We presented them our work plan and they gave us some feedback. We also scheduled some meetings to gather more information

-We moved to Machakos, the town and our hotel are beautiful. People from here are so nice, they received us with a big: Karibuuu =)

-We worked on our assignments analyzing all the information that we gathered.

-We visited Safari Masai Mara, it was a wonderful experience! We saw a lot of animals: giraffes, zebras, elephants, lions, hippopotamus, crocodiles, etc. We also visited a Masai Community, they showed us the welcome and flirtation dance, they explained us their culture and they showed us their houses, amazing!

-Today we had more meetings with customer and this week we are going to be working on our project. Next weekend we are going to go to Nairobi and some places around Machakos =)

I am in Machakos!

Hi!

Sorry I open my blog until today but we have a lot of things to do!

I am in Machakos now, we arrived yesterday.  It is a beatiful town with so nice people.

Today we applied some polls for our projects so we went out and meet all the people, it was an amazing experience. Then we worked hard in order to consolidate all the results and we looked for more information in order to prepare our report.

Tomorrow we will go to Masai Mara and we are excited about it! I will take a lot of pictures =)

Next Monday we will go to Nairobi in order to meet with the customer.

Thanks!
